If your language has some difficulties with iso-8859-1, try a man charset ( tongue ). Aka, utf-8. PunBB doesn't natively support it, but it work with it without too much trouble (at least with MySQL).

I do get more of this bug lately, even with my 1.2.10 version. Post appear twice (or more) in a row, with the same id. Disconnecting doesn't help.

Is there any kind of test I can do to help narrow this down and zeroing in on fixing it ?

True indeed.

The easiest way would be to have an optionnal regexp that transform [space]:[space] into [nbsp]:[space] (and all the correct glyph. ?!:; etc. for french, as mentionned) when the post is saved/previewed if that string is not found in a <code> block.

Maybe a hook in that place (when a post is goind to be saved), and then 1.3 plugins will be able to do special i18n modifications ?

Edit: ok, I missed Gil's post. Well...
By the way, #160; are more supported than nbsp;. A detail, but still.

Second edit: ok I found how to manually insert a non-breaking space. Simply use & #160; (in one string of course), PunBB doesn't escape it like   .

Just the id and ".html" is needed.

About the id, is it necessary ? If you go down the "subject in url" road, why include it ? To reduce the SQL query ?

About the .html, it's absolutely not needed. In fact, it's best not to have it. With your example, it gives: http://placelibre.ath.cx/2459-maintenant-milices/ (with optionnal ending /).

Nicer, and more effective.

Good Lord, this will be core in 1.3 branch.

the license not allowed you to remove

The licence is GPL. He can change anything but the licence itself, and edit the copyright in the source. There are plenty of reason why someone might want to remove the name, copyright, version, etc. on the frontend, and anyone is allowed to do so... and more, they can't be revoked that right.

There are plenty of good software around that don't add a copyright notice on each page... Drupal or Textpattern for starter. It's not a big crime or anything...

I find strange that a PunBB moderator would heavily imply what the licence explicity say one can do he can't do. It mislead the thread's author ? who was kind enough to ask ? in a very official, and disturbing way.

This ? and legal points ? aside, there are good reasons for this. What if every author of a a line of code Rickard re-used, every translator, everyone who discovered a bug, everyone who send a patch, ask for a copyright notice ? The old BSD licence has been down that road... software with several pages of copyright are nonsense.

We can't ask for PunBB 1.3 to make real coffee and deliver little muffins with it anymore ? Pschuiiiii....

Ok so it's not perfect, but at leat the seach is founded with the ' character. The thing is, right now PunBB doesn't find it if there are any apostrophes in the search string sad

Anyway, this is a common issue of many softwares (mysql full text search is affected by this too).

Uh ? It's the first time ever I saw anything like it... are you sure about MySQL fulltext search ?

*If* the board is correctly charset-ed (aka, utf-8), doesn't entities work ?

If there is a serious security breach, then yes an update is needed.

I'm slightly (:() more comfortable right now, so I added 10 box to the pool.

Another idea to use the money: code (or otherthings) ransom. If you need something done, and don't/can't do it yourself, use some of the money to ransom it (so others would do it, and get the money).

No limitations. UTF-8 *is* the way to go. We are several petitioning Rickard to make it the default charset of PunBB tongue

Can we cron it ?

I try to do it for every release. But even with the patch util, it's a bitch to read. You miss one thing, and you could blow up a lot (since some very basic stuff, like knowing which thread you have read, has to be mod).

Well, hopefully the 1.3 plugin system will put an end to the fear.

And by the way, don't worry. 1.3 will have proper plugin support.

That's what I was talking about.

Not even close.
