faax - All they ask is that you don't put that it's powered by your site...Because it isn't. It's powered by punBB - and provide a link back to http://punbb.org.

The Daily Show is possibly the funniest show ever...I was crying from laughing the other night with the report about "sexy cheerleading".

Yes, sexy cheerleading leads to AIDs.  And this is how: Cheerleaders, performing their routine increase the amount of school-pride levels in fans, who then lose control of their senses,  promptly stepping into oncoming traffic. They are rendered paralized from the waist down, and are elligible for helper monkeys, which are undoubtedly infected with the AIDS virus. Undoubtedly they will then go on to have consensual sex with the helper monkeys becoming infected with AIDs and 'the herpes" which will then be spread to the other students when the students return to school later on.

I couldn't even watch it any more I was laughing so hard - it hurt. lol

Odd...I'm using 1.0.4 and it works for me too...

Here you go though:

On my sites, I run 6 different open source web apps.

PunBB is just one of them, no other app that I run requires anything of me in the footer. I can take any app and make it look however I want, linking back to the developer site is a courtesy, nothing more.

I can place whatever copyright I want in the footer, cause it's my content, irregardless of the app that created it. Is there a copright line for UltraEdit in the source of PunBB?

This same type of thread keeps popping up from time to time and it only serves to piss off users.

Mainly the "Powered by" thing is the issue.
True - the content is copyright the owner, but it is powered by punBB.

Paul- I think it's more that he can't put that the board is his copyright...But the content is. So...technically, why can't he?
I mean - If you can take the original copyright off but leave a powered by link, why can't he put that his site is his own?

No need for page viewing.

Nice, did you use a button maker or Photoshop?

Can the logo fit in the left box without being cut off or is it too small at that point?

It's too small at that point.
I made it with Photoshop as the button-makers that I've found I've had too much trouble with.

Yeah, at that point it's almost unidentifiable.
I was torn between using the diamond logo or the stylized "punBB" letters.

There was a similar one to only show 1 catagory at a time which is actually on my site...I just couldn't figure out how I would ever use it. hmm

Anyways,
Wouldn't it involve more lines in a cookie to keep track of which catagories are expanded and which are collapsed?

well i used 12gig bandwidth last month but i did get 1,254,583 hits (hits being page views not actual hits) big_smile
as for space mypunbb uses hardly anything well less than 50mb (35.21 Meg atm) the biggest folder is the cache folder, however it does currently have 361.91 Megabytes of MySQL databases

this month i'm already at 11gig and i expect to get 18-20gig total for the month, mypunbb is growing really fast smile

That's crazy. I use close to 3 gig a month and only get 800 or so hits. Although - it could be all the photos I host.

Yeah, the problem with that is indexing. How much and what parts does Google index.
How often will it be updated?

Etc...Many problems with an external search engine.

Chipmark.com

It's awesome. I've been using them since a few days after they started.
There's even plugins for IE and Firefox.

I've been using this webhost for around 2 years now:
http://www.fuitadnet.com/

The first month (at that time, they were privately owned by a Canadian programmer) I had a lot of problems with up and downtime with the servers.
Since that first month I have not had even 1 server downage. No data lost, no glitches, no problems.
Not one.

This is probably because they were bought by a larger corporation, but whatever. There support has been fantastic and they're really great. The prices are cheap ($5.00 for 3 GB space and 25GB bandwidth), so I would totally recommend them.

Lynx strips out everything except the text. No images, no colors, nothing but the text. To me, netscape and firefox behave almost the same. Maybe that's just because I dislike them both equally.

Sorry...I was being sardonic. wink
Anyways - Have you tried K-Meleon? It's an alternative Gecko browser, but it's really hard to get used to. The customization power is awesome.

Yeah, my problem with Lynx is the same as my problem with Dillo - punBB looks like crap. It can't read CSS, so all pages look lite shite, and you can't even see new topic icons. That's why I suggest that there be an "alt" tag or something for posts.

With SMF (my old forum software) and many other forum systems, the new topic icon has an alt tag for "New Posts" and "No New". That way, text-only browsers can navigate through forums. There's not really many other problems with punBB from a Lynx-user's point of view. That's all I used to browse with.
So, if that one problem were fixed, it might make punBB more accessible to the general public.

Well, as a web developer, I know that having things look ok across the board is important. For my IE needs (testing web-pages, CSS, etc...) I use NetWorker.

Anyways - I digress.
When it comes to using IE, sometimes it's necessary. Whether I'm traveling (at someone else's house, the library, or whatever), it was necessary to use IE sometimes. The same with users of my site - I can't expect them to all use Firefox. Until the Firefox Live! (Firefox run entirely from CD) project became a little more mature, I was stuck on the go. Now I have FF on a business-card sized CD (customized for use by yours truly), and can use it on most computers (thanks to the magic of Autorun). Even when ther initial customer base runs out, there will still be a trickle of new converts.

I seriously doubt that the slowdown in users has anything to do with security issues. It's got more to do with the media.
Plus, this has nothing to do with the growth of IE. The only reason it's so popular is that people don't realize they have a choice, or are not tech-savy enough to care. I mean - How many people havn't used IE? As opposed to people who haven't used FF?
It's too new in the game to make assumptions.
Remember when Apple was king? Remember Netscape Navigator? *lol*
