open the forum the url changed to "http://something.net.ss/category-name/f … topic-name"
or "http://somehing.net.ss/forum-name/topic-name"
i got that on a .net forum so i think it's cool..

recently i moved to another host.
bak and restor te mysql database.
i got the prolem like below:
when i add some bans there got
"An error was encountered
Error: Unable to write bans cache file to cache directory. Please make sure PHP has write access to the directory 'cache'. "
but when i refresh the bans page,the ban have been added correctly.
my cache is 777,
how about that?

I'm not a computer major,and I haven't got any programming training.
I just have some html and css knowledge which learned by myself.
Exactly I like web programming,it created so a beautiful world I'm not seen before.
Can some dude working on programming gave me advices on program learning,if I wanna master the php,perl,mysql,Ruby, and where should I beginning? With what?
There I got a computer and chunks of ebook about internet and web construction full of my disk,and reading it some hours one day. Coz I got nothing to do,I'm jobless.^-^
Ps: the forum all talking about punbb,but I really can not find another forum than "general talking" to post this topic.

just before now,i changed the style of the forum,
then my forum rules got disabled automaticaly, rules changed to " your rules here" something like that
and the announcement gone also, the announcement still enable but the content of the announcement change to " enter your announcemnet here "
reallly annoing..what happened?

Dwedit just means that, the link on the content page should have "rel="nofollow" attribute so the Pagerank not been given outside or other pages of the site.

my forum now using a rewrite script from punres. it's not so good,for it convert the chinese word to "#($*(#*$" eg:

i suggested punbb 1.3 version will solve it.

Then delete or rename the register.php
On "login.php",there still a register link.

By the way,my forum powered by pun,but even more simple than punnbb itself.
I got pun status moved, got userlist moved,got chech user online or off moved,
I think necessarily plugin is spam control and rewrite!( So both reaaly need added in 1.3 )

It's interesting topic!
Punbb is just like jereme said,,better forum is just simple that but not so many trash features and extensions.
If you running a large commercial site,you need programming your forum and websites by yourself company, so that you gotta better forum.
You know facebook and myspace is powerful enough,ehe?so the code are programmed by them self but not from opensource community.
I think you could understand me.all things need "worth"!

Just as the 1.2 of punbb,
Extentions or plugins can not gave support to that "rewrite" feature.
For many years I'm using a not perfect rewrite system for my own language.

There was gotta a member on my forum,he gotta the time between one post and another he need wait,
Then maybe he gotta some tools like posting bots or write it himself to post on my forum automatically.
Eg. My post time controled to 59 seconds, he will post the topic every 59 seconds , to all my catagorys and forums.
I banned then he will registerd backing again.+ I'm tired.
The morning I waked up,my forum gotta his spam even more pages!!
Then he said I ve nothing to do with him.
I'm so anoring!

If you wanna none except somebody can access that,you should't choose web forums but a secret stunnel instead; something like communicate with crypted P2P software?
Anyhow,or just set the server only can been accessed with the IP adds you wanna?
