I love Firefox, using both Mac OS-X and Win, it is consistent across both platforms (unlike the goofy IE "differences" based on platform)....

Clicked Forum, over a minute, did this post, checked- still loading.....even on Cable Modem.....Looks great but I'm bored before I even see the index...still loading....almost two minutes.

Popups blocked also....Is that why it won't load??

May need to reopen the case smile

OK, took about an hour, but I think I can get punBB to load into my WMS software......

Many things to work out, but for a quick hack, it at least loads.....(first issue was we both used db->)

Anyway....thoughts, comments, potential?

It is screwing up all the links (my dependence on phpself), to get to main site without forum, just go to the domain.

Here it is....
http://www.phpmywebthing.com/addons/punBB/index.php

I haven't really hacked punbb much, so fresh to the code there but hopefully with some effort, will be in good shape....

EDIT- moved to addons folder instead of module. Also wrapping package links fixed, now embedded...

Please don't take this as an ad, not intended that way. If you feel it is, go ahead and remove...

I have a domain: ageekforum.com that expires Expires: 9/28/2004
I have sat on it for three years thinking someday I'll do something with, but to this day it remains parked.

Does anyone want this for free??

If you have an enom account, I'll push it in. If not, let me know and I'll release it for transfer for you..

Hate to see it expire, surely some geek with a forum could use it. smile

Thanks

If I may ever so gently make a comment. I think what he is trying to accomplish is (for free or paid) "styles/themes" site. This does not make the forum (or PunRes) paid, nor would it require anyone to even go for it. It would simply be something that people may want, and could pay a couple bucks for it rather than doing themselves.....

When I released phpcoin, it was rather plain (much for the same reasons as punbb), but a lot of people simply wanted a different look. Many people installing software have NO idea how to change it. One person started free / paid themes and to my amazement, that was the difference for some people and they scarfed it up....Did I get pissed that someone made money from my project- yes sort of, but they're not really getting paid for your work, but instead for additions to it....

To this day, phpcoin is more popular because of it. (and in some cases- more popular does mean more donations smile )

Just imho... smile

I've tried the blogger thing, hard to find time to keep up with it. Used to use Greymatter, but now just go with custom journal module in my someday CMS (actually WMS- website MS)

Would one be concerned about this from front page:

PLEASE NOTE: Because of the open nature of wiki I cannot be responsible for its content. It is also very vulnerable to hacking attacks. FOR THE LAME GUYS OUT THERE : HACKING BLAST IS NOT HARD, DOING IT IS NOT COOL AT ALL.

Just to throw in another thought- drupal.org
http://drupal.org/book/view/1

Allows for discussion-based items and some blogging for discussion of things to do. And collabrative "book building" capability for the docs....

Just a thought smile

Oh yeah- forgot Def Leppard  (very bad drummer joke).... smile

I was a little young and poor to catch them "back in the day"..but have been catching some good "old timers tours" past year... Rush twice, ZZTop once (and tickets for Sept for second time. the current Skynryd and 38-Special at same fair but not sure the wife will go for it), Def Leppard at the county fair of all places couple years ago...and the US Tour of REO, Styx (which was the best), and Journey.....Aerosmith up the road in Hershey in a month or so, but not at $90 for the good seats...

Granted, not the same as the good old days of stadium concerts (Bon Jovi '87) when WWW meant weed, wine and women, but still all have been a great shows...
