If you're using the default styles then throw this in your /include/user directory.
728x90_as.php:
<?php
switch ($pun_user['style'])
{
case 'Cobalt':
$bd_color = '565656';
$bg_color = '2A2A2A';
$link_color = '60A0DC';
$text_color = 'D4D4D4';
break;
case 'Mercury':
$bd_color = '565656';
$bg_color = '2A2A2A';
$link_color = 'F6B620';
$text_color = 'D4D4D4';
break;
case 'Radium':
$bd_color = '565656';
$bg_color = '2A2A2A';
$link_color = '60C860';
$text_color = 'D4D4D4';
break;
case 'Sulfur':
$bd_color = 'B84623';
$bg_color = 'F1F1F1';
$link_color = '822100';
$text_color = '333333';
break;
case 'Lithium':
$bd_color = '6C8A3F';
$bg_color = 'FFFFFF';
$link_color = '638137';
$text_color = '333333';
break;
default:
$bd_color = '0066B9';
$bg_color = 'FFFFFF';
$link_color = '005CB1';
$text_color = '333333';
break;
}

<div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center">

I assume you're running this from your home?
One suggestions, change the background color on the Google Ads so they blend in.

Re: Channel File (10 replies, posted in General discussion)
Oh well ... I deleted the file
Oh no, you've unbalanced the Universe, quick, before it's too late.
Check the Recycle Bin, is the file in there?
If it is, recover it quickly, balance will be restored.
If it's not, take your computer and incinerate it. Spread the ashes in the shape of a mouse on the roof of your house at dawn. If the sun shines upon the ashes, we are saved, it it rains and the ashes are washed away...

pogenwurst, are you running a theme other than the default 2.0 one?
And no, I haven't encountered any problems so far. I'm running the Default theme, Web Developer that got compatible today and Adsense notifier.

I have Email verification on, the email will go out but that's no indication it's valid.
In your admin, go to users, enter an '*" in the user name and click Submit search. All those users that say, Not verified, have never responded to the email they were sent.

Look at the bright side, your forum will have a lot of members
Seriously, we know about it and we've been discussing ways to combat this.

Should we now see 1.2.13 in the Admin area? I still see 1.2.12.
Did you upload and run 12_to_1213_update.php that's included in the extras directory?

One suggestion, maybe a countdown timer when the boards will be reset?

Re: Firefox 2.0 (47 replies, posted in General discussion)
I deactivated the compatibility checking and I've got all extensions and themes working again. Web Developer is working fine, some of the themes are not doing so good but the default theme ain't bad for now.
about:config, right click, select new -> Boolean, for the name use extensions.checkCompatibility, and for a value select false.

Re: Next wave of spam: Be prepared! (10 replies, posted in General discussion)
Also, when I do some research on the web looking up these usernames, they are already present in a number of forums with...Zero post!
Yes, I researched one user name the other day after he, she or it posted a few spam posts on one of my forums.
Found out that the user name was being used on quite a number of forums and wikis. From the user name, ForexMan, and the spam post, I deduced it was from a website called Forex dot com that was selling some stock trading software.
I fired off an email to the support team on their site and told them that either their paid spammer stops or we'll all get together and start a negative spam campaign against them. I was prepared to leave the spam post but change the wording to reflect that the software sucked big time and contact every forum and wiki that this user was registered on.
I received an email back saying sorry and I've yet to get any more spam from said user. It's just one person's battle against an army but I believe we can make a difference in the war if we work together.

Nice site design, I see you're running phpBB.
I understand what you're proposing but we also have to take it to the sign up process, lately I'm getting a lot of signups with funky names. A lot of these signups never acknowledge their email confirmations, all I can attribute it to is a way for their product to be spidered from their user names.

Re: Firefox 2.0 (47 replies, posted in General discussion)
One of the things that had bothered me in the past was if you had a number of tabs open and you middle clicked a link, the focus would take you to the last tab, at least that's how I have it configured. When you closed that tab after reading the story, the focus would leave you on the last tab, rather than take you back to the tab you had clicked from. Well now, it works like to should, I am now a quicker surfer - thanks Firefox.
Oh, and the spell checking is working great also, I had gotten used to SpellBound already.

In this case, for example, I notice Secunia.com has not passed on news of this 'punBB vulnerability', presumably because they actually checked to see if the bug was real before registering it in their database.
Secunia is the only feed I follow, the rest of the sites I just ignore.

Re: Integration with eGroupware (3 replies, posted in PunBB 1.2 modifications, plugins and integrations)
Jan, when PunBB 1.3 is released, it will have a new extension system.
I see this facilitating all kinds of integration with outside apps without having to mess around with the underlying code base. I plan on using PunBB as the central user base for my sites, so the front end CMS and backend gallery will authenticate with the forum for permission.
Whenever this is accomplished, I'll make a post on this forum, if it's done right, it can be used by other apps.

Use 1.2.12, don't worry about styling it and start getting people signed up. When 1.3 comes out you can upgrade and then go to town on the new styling features.

Yeah, I had a time evaluating FUDforum since it's in one huge install file that causes problems on certain systems.
I agree that PunBB would make a great addition to any groupware app, it's just finding an interested developer willing to take the time to do the integration.
What would you like to see in terms of integration?
