I've always wondered whether hiding content from non-bots in that way is "allowed" by the search engines. In my opinion, it should be penalized. There's nothing more annoying than googling for something and then finding that the content isn't visible unless you register or spoof your user agent.
It isn't, it's cloaking
But as usual... google lets it go with certain domains.
A certain webmaster domain has this problem. See the results you want on the result page... See less information on the link... I hate that.
Its gone again
I mentioned this on IRC, but thought I would post about it as I have been getting it more regular.
Error: Unable to connect to MySQL server. MySQL reported: Can't create UNIX socket (12).
Also this morning I have been a getting another error... Something along the lines of Unable to ..... topic id or something along those lines.
Just thought I would mention it.
EDIT:
The other error is
Unable to fetch topic list.
Happy new year everyone...
Rickard wrote:Indeed. Happy New Year folks! Give us a few more days and we should have 1.3 beta up for grabs.
Just thought I would mention it...
http://svn.punbb.org shows you a different home page.
Nothing special... got to it from google.
Now on 1226...
I did not mean to offend. I just wanted to know what it was about...
This is music to my ears though.... my point was more about the copyright on the front page which I thought was required. But as rickard did not comment on this then I am guessing its fine. Which is great because I have a portal system that will be released in a few weeks and I wanted to just have the same. Thanks and sorry...
Reported.
Sorry but I dont take abuse whilst helping punbb community.
EDIT: No more responses I am afraid. Like I said PunBB admins/mods can deal with this.
Shut up bingiman. Your giving out code that is flawed so I can say what I like.
Maybe I should make it clear that any develeoper with this approach....
bingiman wrote:The only solution was to leave the functions file the way it was.
I would not recommend anyway.
Is that better?
I very much doubt it in 1.2 because its not something that punbb vanilla requires.
Make sure that if you dont use the proper code that you make it clear to people that your giving them flawed code. Unfair otherwise
@bingiman
Erm... Did you read the previous post.
Smartys wrote:That's a bad idea, since the new code is there for security reasons
You should remove those things that dont work until you find a workaround, under no circumstances do you intentionally use security flawed code.
Your telling people a flaw in your software
Sent you mail.
Sorry but your very wrong.
PunBB is not just a bit of forum software... its the whole code... THE WHOLE CODE.... All your source code is produced by PunBB not by PunCake. Unless I am mistaken...
Using even the source code from punbb is classed as using punbb... your user links integrate with punbb... everything is punbb... NOT PUN CAKE.
If you can prove otherwise then no problem.
EDIT: plus...
foxmask wrote:absolutly not
the forum contains it but the home page is not made by punBB ...
Made by PunBB... I never said anything about made by punbb... I said powered by punbb. Like i said above it dont look like your code... it looks like the standard PUNBB layout. How is that not anything to do with punbb
EDIT: Removed post.
That PunCake homepage... should it not have "Powered by PunBB" on it.
powered by puncake
I dont think so some how.
Also i agree with the others above me, seems pointless if you dont explain what it does.
What have you changed code wise and explain your understanding of the model-view-controller approach?
I dont see a benefit of using this sorry.
You was saying bingiman... http://punbb.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p … 68#p105768
Sorry had to bring it up after all the praise you was giving this company. Like I said... what is good for one... is not always good for another.
Maybe you should add your hosting to your "Bad hosting companies" website.
I have now updated to 1178.
Cheers Smartys

What the forum worked fine?
Well due to this comment on it...
This is a major update so it could go pear shaped. Be prepared for errors, bugs and glitches.
There will be problems with the style but I have the stylesheet update underway.
Will need to test before I go ahead.
EDIT: Ok I tested and it does have some problems. But I still updated anyway...
The biggest problem is that it does not show any forums in the board at present. Oh well... will await more updates.
Meowmeow wrote:But the forum owner hates me.
lol
Ok I will be having a go after new year
Is anyone taking this on??
Elbekko... was you doing something along this lines?
If no one has taken it on then I might have a go myself.
3 simple punbb sites... nothing special at all.
http://rhydianroberts.tv
http://leonjackson.tv
http://samedifferencegroup.com
It has bugs... but its for a money turn around only.
I paid 20p for all three domains so thought it would be rude to not at least put something on them.
Old post revival...
I will add my digg account shortly.
