Mind that if the forum is active users may not find their current style if you removed it, while you may see everything correctly displayed using the style you choose. Just in case :).

What do you want to do? Practically everything can be achieved by replacing the blocks <pun_body>, <pun_title> and so on at header.php.

Don't be fooled by the name, that's a topic subject :D.

I made it, but don't have the time nor the heart to track down the modifications I did. It's very easy, just adding a new field to the database saving the information and adding the proper line to some code in "functions.php" (I think) which updates the forums info when you modify a post.

Edit. See? I wrote BBCode in spanish mwahahahaha! ;)

Hey, I'll revise it as soon as posted :D.

But the real name is not a required field, moreover, most people don't fill it in (at least with real data). It would depend on the kind of forum you admin, of course.

Edit. Spelling.

Is it a default template? Because it looks really amazing, really cool (and I'm very picky with "cool"), and I´ve no idea about blogs. This E3 owns, btw :D.

I think no BB soft implements it, but that does not mean it wouldn't be nice. Have you ever thought of using customizable BBCode? I guess it doesn't matter much to a swedish guy, but try to explain to a spanish or a french guy what the b in bold means :D. I've changed it manually, but in an ugly way and without much care.

Just wondering, huh! :D

Admin > Permissions > Users may set title.

Edit: didn't see your second post :D. Anyway, you can change it there.

No, it doesn't work for Mozilla (1.5). Nor does it seem to work for pay-for forums as IPB or vBulletin.

I had to do that to (a dirty hack, and yes I mean I HAD TO :( ) and it works nicely. I see why it shouldn't come with PunBB as a feature but it would be nice to have it as a mod.

Though honestly font size and different fonts is a little too much for me :D. I couldn't get the /color tag to work btw, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I'll try to close it immediately as you did, good idea.

Nice work.

PS. Btw, does anyone know why Mozilla scrolls textareas to the top after clicking on any of the icons? It seems to work well for explorer. There is a piece of code somewhere that corrects it for Explorer, not for Mozilla (that I know of). Regards.

I'll do it tomorrow or next monday, it's 3 am and I'll be gone for the weekend.

You damned little rascal, I was wondering where the hell that .lv address came from :D.

Uh, instead of new_icon.png (or whatever) I added a $count++; in the loop and used new_icon_number.gif ("new_icon_". $count ".gif"). I love dirty hacks :D. It's very easy to do.

I like the possibility of turning off images, sigs, and so on. Few people use them here because it's not needed, very few use images in signatures in this forum (which are terribly annoying in most cases) and even if they do they are not big or animated. But for other forums it would be a BLESS. Don't change it!

As for images in sigs, I just disable them all, as an admin. And I think that's enough. If you want to separate imgs and smilies, well, I'll just disable both groups in my forums :D. And I think most people will do the same --just a guess, though.

Personally, I love the way PunBB handles the user profile. True, there's a lot of checkboxes that make your eyes hurt, but the options are there and while most users will ignore them, you can direct them to the right one if the need arises. I always get lost managing an account on IPB for instance. On the other hand the Admin panel at PunBB is a bit exhausting, but you get used to it pretty quickly.

PS. I cannot give feedback, I'm starting up.

I'm not sure this is the right forum but it's trouble and I'd like to shoot it, so what the hell...

I see, when using PunBB, that www.whatever.com and whatever.com are treated as different sites, as far as cookies are concerned. You could even use two accounts simultaneously, because (without much testing, huh) links, I see, are relative. Is there a way to prevent this?

Probably it's just one of those annoying unsolvable problems, but just gave me quite a headache...

(/rant).

The only ones who can see the IP are administrators and moderators, if you log in as a normal user you'll see the IP is not displayed. I guess that's enough, otherwise you could comment out the proper lines.

Mmm, I don't understand the first question. Probably some veteran knows what you're talking about.

Maybe I wasn't very clear... In short:

Why in other forums I see the red cross and not on PunBB? Is there a way to activate it through HTML? Always referrring to Mozilla, at least.

Thanks.

IE usually displays a white square with a red cross, and Mozilla does something similar. I've noticed when using Mozilla+PunBB if an image does not exist nothing is shown, so you have no hint it's there. I have that problem not only with images that don't exist but with some servers where the image is placed correctly (I don't know why).

As a demonstration, a screenshot (there should be images between the lines of text):

http://www.geedorah.com/img/personal/iespana_apesta.gif

And here as an experiment a link to a non-existent image:

http://www.geedorah.com/img/iespana_apesta.jpg

[/end]

Any ideas why the image-could-not-be-loaded indication is not there?

There is a script for that among the files distributed with punbb, on the "scripts" folder. Just upload turn_off_manteinance_mode.php (or something very similar) to your root folder and execute the script.

Edit. And delete it afterwards :D.

I just noticed I have that problem too, how can I remove the mod? SQL delete? I seem to recall that the original field was not blank. I see the default value for the field says NULL, but I think I've seen something there before...

Thanks :D.

It's slightly more complicated to change the size of the emoticons (there is a post somewhere around), but for the images on the index page it's as easy as opening index.php, looking for "new.png" and setting width="16" and height="16" to your values of choice. Or just delete both settings.
