When did PunBB change to tableless coding BTW? Really impressive.

you're right on the smilies though, would be good if it was automatic.

What happens if someone drops a link in a post, i.e: example.com:8080?

Can you also not make them RAR's. I have winrar but not everyone does. It would be nice that everything released was a zip, so it conformed to the lowest common denominator.

To be truly pedantic on that note, big_smile gzipped tar files for *nix and zipped files for Windoze are the norms. Zip is not, (unsure of Linux), a system tool on *nix. Tar and gzip are. smile

I want to know, visually 1.3 Flux and 1.3 Pun look the same. I am wondering what coding differences there are between the 2. Is pun just the code being downloaded from Flux SVN and being rebranded as Pun.

That pretty much sums it up, to a point. When the Dev's here started making final preparations for the R.C, I believe they made their own little tweaks to the code they had at the time from then onwards, as such. All in all though, it's pretty much the same thing.

The_Fiddler wrote:

If that is the case at what SVN version did you get to to not have the latest Flux SVN missing style code affect the layout of Pun.

The Flux 1.3 code is still being tweaked as we speak to get rid of those final styling bugs, I believe.

Cheers for the update regarding the cure. That should come in helpful for future reference. smile

I keep an eye on PunBB and FluxBB forums, but have no time to work on PunBB right now - it depends on my boss for me.

Thats all I have guys. Sorry

No reason for you to be apologising Matt. smile It ain't you who has practically disappeared.

Utchin wrote:

Yeah, I think its important to see PunBB is maintained differently from how it used to. To the developers, this is only just another project they run, and dont have the same aims and wishes as the community needs.

It would appear Bert was not far wrong with his expectations of what would happen.

Utchin wrote:

Though I am considering moving onto the dev team, so that if the situation arises again, when the developers are out of work for the website, then I can at least still do update to the forum.

One point I would mention, Matt. It may seem no big thing to someone of your age, big_smile but one always ought to consider carefully the brush they may tar themselves with. Personally, (judging from the response you quoted above), I'd steer well clear of becoming part of the 'Dev' team for PunBB.

Call me old fashioned if you will, but it does not matter a monkeys how many other projects they have on the go. You cannot just take an Open Source community & software and literally drop it on its arse. They should have made sure they had the manpower in place to cater to looking after the system, not just enough to get a new release out for the supposed bragging rights. It's pathetic, to put it subtly. This ain't a dig at Anatoly or the other 'Dev's', btw, but rather at informer directly.

PunBB, of course. FluxBB practically abandoned 1.3

Not abandoned, merely discontinued. It will be available as an unsupported release once a final few tweaks have been made.

DD wrote:

and if they were delaying it for 7 months (or more) then we can't expect people will see 1.4 or 2.0 anytime soon.

2.0 is the version in development, so obviously that will not appear overnight. From what I gather, however, 1.4 should not be that far away now.

Care to fix these too?

That's not a fault or bug. Quick quote is javascript based. Have you guessed where I'm leading yet? big_smile

You're welcome. smile

It's related to the cookie settings. It expects you to be arriving from one location, not two. smile Just redirect one address to the other and make sure your cookie settings are correct. If you have a look, there gave been a couple of threads on this subject over the last several weeks.

Aye, it was a complete misinterpretation. big_smile Can't say what your CSS problem is offhand though. Tried it here with a local version of your CSS file and the devil decided to work, so couldn't do any testing on it as such.

Give this a whirl. It's completely untested as I don't run a standard setup anymore, but it should work fine. If not, I'm sure you'll let me know quickly enough. big_smile Fixed a couple of bugs whilst I was at it. You can just replace all the files with the ones in the download, or just the ones which have changed, which are:

message_list.php
footer_links.php
pms.php    [The language file]

The download is here: http://forums.bauchan.org/unix/downloads.php?dcid=1

It's the third file down.

So you are not wanting to fix the width at 1100px, but rather have a min/max of 700px and 1100px? That's not fixed width. That's limited variable width. big_smile

I've just been to have a peek at your site from a machine that has I.E installed, and it would appear that you are referring to the margins? The fact that the right margin is larger than the left margin in I.E?

wow MattF, i know for you iam just a random a noob and a simple user of punBB. Of course iam a beginner, but i came here "in peace", explained as good as possible my problem and i will stay friendly and polite regardless to your comportment.

I dont think you even take a look at my problem, its not as simple as you think or i hope its not. The width is already set to 1100 px, but its not showing properly on ie but just on Firefox.

I dont know if its the policy of punBB to be just for the nerds and to disrespect the noobs, newcomers or whatever you call them.

It's absolutely nothing to do with anyones status. This is simply down to the point of: have you ever tried viewing a high fixed width site if you have a monitor resolution of, for example, 800x600? Seriously, you may as well just put that sign up as I mentioned above, on your site, because that really is how annoying tricks like that are.

What you think is the optimal width is not what other people may think is the optimal width. Having to scroll across a page because someone has designed a site while they were running a screen res of 1024 or above and decided to fix the width based on that opinion is literally asking people to leave. Hell, whilst you're at it, why don't you make your site I.E specific too.

It never was, and still isn't, a personal dig at yourself. It is, however, a very blunt dig at people who do tricks like the above. There is neither reason nor need to do such tricks.

Edit: As I mentioned, don't take it personally. I merely suffer from a subtlety and tact deficiency. big_smile

Garciat wrote:

you want to page to have a static width of 1100px.

Why the hell would someone consider doing that is beyond me. They may as well just put a sign on the site telling half the people that visit to f*** off, 'cos that's how annoying that will be. Scrollbar hell.

A banned user can't logout to avoid that he register again or login with another nickname.

That's silly reasoning for it, if so. All he has to do is delete his cookie.

Whatever the reason, it's piss poor. You can't, (when you're Dev's), just disappear en masse for three weeks gone and over.

Edit: Typo corrected. (Again). big_smile

I tried to paste that code but it just generated a link. I´m not that hi-tech so i dont get what you mean by "and then check for $_GET['select_all'] being set when you load the page.".

Can you explane please

That code in itself is useless. You need to code around that code. smile

If I get chance, I'll have a look and see if I can get the complete code sorted over the next couple of days. I'll not promise though. big_smile

Do any of them actually do anything on here anymore?

Edit: Typo corrected.

Use the same method of accessing it as you used when you initially created the database to install Pun. I'm assuming you most likely have some web interface thing like CPanel or suchlike.

If it's a true XML implementation, I believe you can set the containing cells type to allow XHTML. You'll need to dig for the specific info yourself, but this section from the Atom spec should give you an idea what you are looking for.

http://atomenabled.org/developers/syndication/#text

As far as I know, RSS is the only thing broken enough in the XML arena to not allow the container to contain XHTML by setting the type.

The O.P shouldn't need to resort to that however if things are working as they should. Banning an I.P should ban an I.P. Nothing more or less.

True, but if this was a persistent spammer, the htaccess rule will sort it out until a PunBB solution is found by someone with better knowledge than me.

Apologies if what I intended came across incorrectly. smile I was meaning more along the lines of the O.P should submit a bug report due to things obviously not working as they should. I realise I worded it extremely vaguely in that first post. smile

The quick and simple method is to just change their group_id directly via the DB. That shouldn't be necessary if everything is functioning as expected, however, so that is only an interim method suggestion. smile

Oh, god... so sorry. Didn't this was for 1.2.

big_smile big_smile

You just need to add an extra link within the message list page that refers to an unused, (as yet), GET variable and use that to reload with all checkboxes ticked, i.e:

<a href="./message_list.php?select_all">Select all</a>

and then check for $_GET['select_all'] being set when you load the page.
